Update:

Update: I spoke with the aforementioned student today. He is still failing. He is still putting the blame on every one but himself.

People that cannot help themselves cannot be helped.

    Yep! Don't let it bring YOU down though. I'm sure you did the best you could to talk to him, help him out. Some people just need to hit rock bottom before they can see what they've been doing wrong.
